ISM Dhanbad’s strategic location in a mineral-rich region provides students with unparalleled opportunities for industry engagement. The institute maintains close ties with leading companies in the mining and mineral sector, facilitating internships, industry projects, and guest lectures. This industry integration is a significant advantage, as it allows students to apply classroom learning to real-world challenges and gain insights into the intricacies of the sector.

The institute’s strong industry connections also play a vital role in placements. ISM Dhanbad’s MBA graduates are highly sought after by companies operating in the mining, energy, and infrastructure sectors. The institute’s robust placement record reflects the trust that the industry places in its graduates, making the MBA program a preferred choice for those aspiring to build careers in these sectors.

ISM Dhanbad’s commitment to research and innovation extends to its MBA program. The institute encourages both faculty and students to engage in research projects, consultancy work, and publications related to management in the mining and mineral sector. This research not only contributes to the academic community but also addresses practical challenges faced by industry stakeholders.

Beyond academics, ISM Dhanbad offers a vibrant campus life. Students actively participate in cultural events, sports competitions, and management festivals. These extracurricular activities provide opportunities to hone leadership, teamwork, and interpersonal skills. The institute’s modern infrastructure, including well-equipped classrooms and state-of-the-art libraries, complements the overall learning environment.

FAQ

CS refers to Composite Score and its made of different Profile Components, CAT Performance, GDPI Performance etc. It’s calculated as per official CS calculation criteria of each Institution. Institutions use this CS to evaluate candidates perfomance among available pool of candidates before making decision for GDPI Calls/Admission Offer.

Minimum CAT Percentile above refers to Minimum CAT percentile of any candidate who got admission offer. You need to note that your CAT score is not the sole determining factor during Admission, Your academic Profile, Achievements, Workex and Performance in GDPI influences your final CS considered for Admission.

It depends on Institutions admission criteria. Some Institutions use CS based shortlisting for their WAT-PI round while some Institutions shortlist candidates subject to fulfilling of set sectional and CAT percentile cutoffs by them.

Each Institution Independently decide their own Admission criteria each year and based on it they proceed with GDPI calls and final Admission Offers.

Yes, Candidates need to file separate Applications each year to be considered eligible for Admissions. Do note that they might have an eligibility criteria, go through it before filling your Application.

Eligiblity cutoffs are the sectional and total CAT percentile cutoffs that a candidate needs to cross to become eligible for further considerations. Some institutions don’t have CS based GDPI shortlisting, they choose candidates for PI based on Eligibility cutoffs. (There are other conditions to be fulfilled by any candidate to be eligible for GDPI considerations and failing to fulfil them might result in disqualification)

  1. chances of receiving pi call and conversion with cat percentile 85.45 GEM fresher with acads 89.8/81/74?

    1. Nice to hear from you, focusing on maximising your PI score would help you get a convert. Keep working hard and with good performance you can expect a convert. I hope this helps, Do write back if you need more help 👍

  2. I have 18-18 in varc and quant but -2 in DILR. In application form negative marks doesn’t accept. How can i fill ? Or i can’t fill.

    1. Hi Ankit, since their application is not accepting negative scores. That might be pointing to you not fulfilling eligibility. One thing I would suggest is, write a mail to their admissions department explaining your situation and see what they suggest. They might provide you with a solution if your credentials are found eligible. Do write them an email to get your query cleared asap. Thanks 👍

      1. I mailed but no reply from 5 days. I also called but not received. Can i submit 0 instead of -2 marks.

        1. If you have time in terms of Application Deadline, You should try reaching them out and even then you dont get any reply, then you can try filling 0. But do keep in mind that this might result in end level rejection, since your actual CAT scorecard would contain something different when matched to their records. Do proceed carefully. Write back if you have more queries. Thanks

  6. Hi. I am general category male with B.Sc. and 10th/12th/graduation scores of 93/70/86 and CAT percentile – 88
    I have no work experience.
Can you please let me know what are the chances of getting shortlisted for pi and when will the shortlist be announced.
Also, how is the CAT score used to calculate composite score

    1. Hi Riyan, Hope you are doing well. IITs have their application timelines starting from JAN last week (accepting new applications) to FEB last week to March first week (Anouncing their PI shortlist). It can also vary with institutions discretion. Dontt worry too much about these things since only thing in your hand right now is to keep working hard on your PI preparations to maximise your PI score. I hope this helps, write back if you need more help. 👍

      1. I got shortlisted sir. Any idea on what kind of questions I can expect more from with background in B.Sc. in Computer Science, Mathematics and Electronics?
Is there any place I can find any interview experience with my background

        1. That’s really nice to hear. I am currently working on GDPI Experiences and compiling it to be published once ready. But this will take at least another 15-20 days. In your case, Be well versed with your last years subjects and some commonly asked questions in GDPI like about yourself / Why MBA / Why IIT etc. ( Just a quick tip, IITs PI are relatively easier as compared to BLACKIS). Prepare yourself with latest events and happenings, Read a bit about your city or place you currently reside ( I was asked about my state, city, what makes it popular, they even asked me transactional value of an edible product farmed in my state). Be confident, and you will do great. I hope this helps, write back if you need more help. 👍

          1. Okay sir, thank you. I can do that.
About Why IIT? I am not able to find a lot of data regarding their program/courses/internships and so on.
Also, considering I am from Bangalore, I think I need not worry about transactional values.

          2. Regarding Why IIT, you can frame your answer around their PGP programs, its features, Legacy of IITs etc. Make sure that its enough to keep you going for around 2 mins and please dont add something you arent fully aware of as if they ask you something regarding it and you not giving an acceptable reply would not look good. Do some research, Prepare for common questions,Revise your courses and you are all set for PI. Thanks 👍

    2. Do I have chance in any iits or iims work ex 1.9, percentile 82.5 OBC decent acadmic records?

      1. Hi Ashutosh, Hope you are doing well. At 82.5 and profile as above you can expect Non core programs from IIM Sirmaur, Bodh Gaya etc with a good PI Score. I hope this clears your query, write back if you have more queries.👍

      1. I have offer letter from great lakes Gurgaon as of now. Would you rate IIT G higher than great lakes?

        1. Hi Mohit, This is little subjective. But if you ask me IIT as a brand would always be helpful in long run. I would suggest you do your own evaluation before making any decision. 👍

          1. Thanks for your patience. Data has been updated for FMS MBA 2023-25. Now you can go to the page to check it out. 👍

  7. Hello sir I was using the cs calculator for IIT dhanbad, but I guess something is wrong as the interview’s weightage is 40% but in the calculator it is being calculated our of 30.
Can you please check once and pls do correct me if I am wrong.

    1. Hi Piyush, hope you are doing well. Kindly note that the error is now resolved and you can use the calculator tool for ISM Dhanbad. Thanks 👍

  8. Hi sir.
You’ve stated CS cut off for general as 72.711. Is this for the first merit list or is it after the final movement of waitlist?

    1. Hi Ayush, hope you are doing well. Wailtlist movements are very dynamic in nature and can vary depending on several factors including the time offer was made and number of offers made being more prominent. Although last year numbers dont raise hopes but lets hope for the best. 👍
